Frequently Asked Questions

What is Phoenix ?

Phoenix is a band that provides a whole evening’s entertainment. We specialise in weddings and other family parties, commercial ceilidhs and dances, as well as vocal and instrumental music for pubs, clubs or private houses.  We have full public liability insurance cover which is usually an essential condition of room hire agreements.

What do I get for my money?

The band comes as a complete self contained entertainment package.  We bring our own p.a. system and we do all the work in a very professional manner – all you have to provide is space for the musicians and their kit, a 13amp power socket and an audience.

Who are Phoenix?

The band’s members have played, sung and danced with other bands for many years. We came together to form Phoenix in 2006.

Where are Phoenix based?

We all live in West Yorkshire so the north of England is within easy reach.  Any reasonable request of travel will be considered by the Band.

What sort of dances do Phoenix do?

We do a large selection of country dances from England, Ireland and Scotland.  The selection covers the whole range from very easy through to very complicated.  Just tell us what you want.  We have our own expert caller who leads the dance from the floor with the aid of a radio microphone.

What sort of music do Phoenix play?

As a dance band, we play traditional tunes from Ireland Scotland, England, France and further afield.  Our music is played on traditional instruments such as fiddle, flute, accordion, banjo, bouzouki and guitar. Our sound is “acoustic”,but unless you want an “unplugged” performance, we  play through our own powerful pa system so that we can provide just as much or as little volume as you want.

We have our own unique sound with  roots in Irish traditional styles and branches to blues, country, bluegrass, rock and folk.

Are Phoenix good?

Yes we are very good indeed. We get most of our work from word-of-mouth recommendation. We give great value for money and we can provide references from many satisfied customers to prove it.
